The CH25 armchair by Carl Hansen & Søn was a miracle of its time, galvanising design enthusiasts with its novel shapes and materials. This chair launched in 1950 is part of the first collection created for Carl Hansen & Søn by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner.
The CH25 lounge chair features the smooth and uncomplicated profile characteristic of Wegner’s work. Wegner was inspired by paper yarn as a new material and found it to be a durable choice for chair seats and backs that retained its shape well without stretching. This natural material is trendier than ever today and is well suited for both traditional living rooms and modern Scandinavian bedrooms.
The CH25 chair is handmade in Denmark. It takes 10 hours to braid the required 400 metres of paper yarn into the frame of each chair. Seat height 35 cm and armrest height 55 cm.
